Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm which is situated on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for tasks which need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. For example, employees are able to perform exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift bucket usually only holds a single employee. These buckets are better suited to particular jobs like electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available in electric and gas configurations and are available with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Because these machines should be positioned directly beneath the work location, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, as they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, since they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a good option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Bucket trucks, cherry pickers and boom trucks each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle utilized specially for vertical work. Generally, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand in addition to an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for carrying.
Cherry pickers could lift employees up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy materials and equipment for one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that could carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of machinery excel at various jobs and are great for specific applications and accomplishing particular tasks.
