Skyjack Safety
A scissor lift is a specialized kind of industrial equipment that is used for "positioning personnel, their equipment and their tools," according to Skyjack. Anybody who is getting ready to operate this type of machine should familiarize themselves with the recommended operational and safety measures recommended by the manufacturer in order to stay safe prior to trying to use this machinery. It could be devastating to the operator themselves and any bystanders leading to serious injuries if the safety measures are not followed.
Area
In the best case scenario, the scissor lift will be operated on totally level ground. Before driving a scissor lift over a particular terrain, the area needs to be checked and cleared of any debris. To be able to lessen the risks of the scissor lift tipping over and probably causing the driver to fall from his seat. It is better to keep away from holes or steep grades while operating. Bystanders must also remain aware and stay clear of the operating scissor lift so as to ensure they do not get run over.
Inspection
The user needs to thoroughly inspect all integral parts of the device prior to attempting to use a scissor lift. A functional test done while the lift is retracted allows the operator to see if all parts are correctly functioning before the task is initiated. It is recommended to perform a daily check on this machine prior to the shift starting and some places even want an inspection to take place at the end of the shift too. Various businesses have different policies in place to maintain safety.
Part of the inspection has to be checking over the tires. These parts obviously add to the movability of the scissor lift and also provide the machine with a solid foundation. A tire which is worn or faulty can blow and throw the operator from their location on top of scissor lift.
