How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Many people appreciate the ease of using a scissor lift. The ease of working and the security offered from the lift's basket offer much more piece of mind than attempting to carry out a similar task using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the best option for carrying jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The equipment needs to be parked near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located inside the basket of the lift, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, units which are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could potentially occur.
